Patients in Select Counties Eligible for Teleheath Recertifications After Hurricane Ian

On October 5, 2022 – Florida’s Surgeon General, Joseph A. Ladapo, MD, PhD reinstated Department of Health Emergency Orders allowing Medical Cannabis Physician’s to conduct Telehealth Recertifications for existing patients.

The October 5th Order states that requiring an in-person physical examination of a qualified patient before issuing a (re)certification “is likely to impede the Department of Health’s ability to take actions needed to effectively facilitate the mitigation, response and recovery necessary to respond to this emergency. Section 3819986(4)(a)(1)., Florida Statutes, is hereby suspended until November 30, 2022, to allow for remote recertification of existing qualified patients…”

What this means for you: If you are a registered medical cannabis patient and you live in any of the following Counties: Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Flagler, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands, Hillsborough, Lake, Lee, Manatee, Orange, Osceola, Pinellas, Polk, Putnam, St. Johns, Sarasota, Seminole, and Volusia your Medical Cannabis Physician may use Telehealth (as defined in Section 456.47(1)(a), Florida Statutes) to complete your recertification examination from now until November 30, 2022.

We at the Flowery are pleased to see that Florida Government Officials recognize that Medical Cannabis is essential to the continued health and well-being of Florida residents.

If you need your medical cannabis certification renewed, please contact your Physician to schedule your Telehealth Recertification visit.

State of Florida, Department of Health – Suspension of Statutes, Orders, and Rules Pursuant to Executive Order Number 22-218 made necessary by Hurricane Ian.
